Jacob Smith is a Bassist located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Jacob specializes in many genres, such as Jazz, Soul, R&B, Funk, Salsa, and much more. This specialization in many different genres has allowed Jacob to collaborate with many artists in and outside Indianapolis in a variety of settings. Some of the artists he has collaborated with include Saxophonist Rob Dixon, Guitarist Jeff Parker, Trombonist Wayne Wallace, and several more. He has performed at venues such as The Jazz Kitchen (Indianapolis), Chatterbox Jazz Club (Indianapolis), The Jazz Showcase (Chicago), and Jazz at Lincoln Center (NYC).

Jacob currently serves as Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Indianapolis, educating students in group and private settings in Theory, Technique, Jazz Performance, and other related topics. With a unique love of Latin music, Jacob can be seen frequently around Indianapolis and surrounding areas performing with his own projects specializing in Latin Jazz and Salsa.
